Had one a couple of years ago on a 744. Quite impressive when they activate TOGA on a pretty light Jumbo. That thing really accelerates…

I can't help but think the guy recording this really needs to calm down. Way too dramatic for something that's a relatively normal/frequent occurrence.

It's why I don't give credibility to Aviation Bloggers or "Influencers".

Curious if any more details come out but it looks like a drop in headwind or windsheer led to an increased sink rate and bounce.

They were a little heavy on the elevators, hence it almost came back down nose wheel first, but everything after that was textbook go-around which is standard procedure after a bounce.

It actually, as you and some others said, wasn't so bad and the same plane performed the return flight LH457 a few hours later.

I've experienced hard landings on B747s which caused the overhead bins to open and ceiling panels to fall down. In the day and age of a camera in every cellphone, we certainly would have heard about it, if it had happened on the landing in the video. Also nobody filmed themselves after landing and put an "I was scared to death movie" on TikTok.

Sure it does.

It is engineered so that it can take off on three engines and fly on two. 747s have crossed the Atlantic on three engines after losing one on departure.

FR24 has a data point right over the threshold with a sink rate of -700 fpm

That's reasonable for short final, but you're not going to grease it in with that over the numbers.

This article is referring to the flight as a "training flight" with 326 passengers and 19 crew members. Anyone know what they mean by a training flight?

Possibly a "check ride" for one of the pilots.

check ride (noun):
a flight that constitutes the final examination to get or maintain certification as a pilot

If Fox is right, that‘s the most likely scenario. Not a great check ride then.
